Thank you for your letter today, on behalf of Syed Soharwardy and his friends. I look forward to making your acquaintance.

I could go through a point-by-point response to your letter, but I'm too busy.

I'll sum up this way:

1. Every word I have written about Soharwardy was defensible under the defamation doctrines of justification, fair comment, qualified privilege and consent.

2. I admire your confidence, but your threat of seeking an injunction against me, prior to a defamation trial, is simply not consistent with Alberta law.

3. I am not a physician, but I can assure you that my discovery of Soharwardy will be fairly described as proctological.

4. My address for service is care of Tom Ross, of McLennan Ross. I'm copying him on this note, so that he will be expecting your claim.
