Vancouver Island and 24 Sussex Drive

| | |

I spent the day on Vancouver Island today. It started with a great meeting in Victoria, with about 120 folks getting up early to hear me at a 7 a.m. breakfast event. Afterwards I walked over to Munro's Books with Jim Munro himself (who had come to breakfast) and I signed a stack of Shakedown's for their shelves. For those of you who haven't been to Victoria, look at this gorgeous edifice, below. It could well be the most magnificent book store in the country:

It was a great meeting, and I regret that I had to leave in such a hurry to catch my flight home -- I went from Calgary to Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo, Vancouver again and then home to Calgary all in about 20 hours. You'll understand why I'm glad my book tour is done for the spring!

A big thanks to Kelly in Victoria, Bruce in Nanaimo and all the other folks who helped organize these two successful events.

Speaking of which, I just received pictures from our little free speech gathering at 24 Sussex Drive earlier this month. I have about 100 photos, but I won't overwhelm you with them. Here are just four fun ones. The first, taken when we were all laughing at something or another, is Mark Steyn, Doug Pepper the publisher of Shakedown, me and Laureen Harper:
