The importance of the Mike Duffy Live cross-examination
Over the break, I realized the true value of Awan's comments on that Mike Duffy Live clip.
In it, Awan claims that he was happy to let Steyn and Maclean's continue to write whatever they want, as long as Awan gets his views out, too.
OK. So how does that public statement square with the section 7 BCHRT trial? Because section 37 of the Code requires -- it doesn't permit, it requires -- the BCHRT to order Maclean's to cease its discriminatory conduct, which in this case is critical coverage of radical Islam.
This goes to Awan's credibility -- he's a liar, a dozen times over. But it also goes to the heart of the legal test here. If Awan himself is on record, telling the entire country that he's fine with Steyn and Maclean's continuing to publish whatever they like, then clearly it isn't truly Islamophobic.
Awan has publicly stated he's fine with Maclean's and Steyn continuing on their merry way.
Now he's saying he wants an order against them for violating the law.
Was he lying then, or is he lying now?
